Whew!

We're home and all is unpacked and put away after our weekend of three shows in four days.  It was lots of loading, unloading, setting up, tearing down and loading up again.  We saw good weather, bad weather and everything in between, but managed to make it through the weekend with no damage to pots, tent or self.  And ended with a few more dollars in our pocket than we started out with.  For that we are very grateful.

I'll sleep good tonight.  Be well.

Thursdays on First & 3rd

This Thursday you'll find me and a large collection of my pottery at the street market in downtown Rochester MN called Thursdays on First & 3rd.  It's usually a huge event and I'm hoping it will be a great pottery sales venue.  If you're near Rochester, come down and see us.  There are countless food and art vendors and performers on two stages. Look for us on the far north end of the booths on First - see ya there.

Pot Photos

After recent firings I'd taken photos of most of my favorite pots outside against the shed wall, but hadn't really taken the time to take photos to use for show applications and promotional materials.  Yesterday, was a gorgeous sunny day so I used the opportunity to take out the photo cube and take some better pictures of recent works.

This cup was my favorite piece from the last firing.  The inside is glazed with a shino (can't remember which of the several shinos I've got) and the outside is Shaner Oribe.  After dipping the outside in the glaze, I drew my finger down the side to create the stripes.  I love how the stripes turned out.

Sometimes I can spend a great deal of time waxing stripes and creating fine details only to find out that the simplest method brings me the best results.

Here are a few more of the pictures I took yesterday.

Kiln Opening Party Slideshow Video

During the Bluff Country Studio Art Tour last month, we hosted a kiln opening party.  It was a great time to have so many people around to share my "Christmas morning" and a few beers. Watching the video, it appears I spent most of the time making faces, but I swear in each of the photos I was actually talking so it was just motor mouth funny faces, not "I'm a dork" funny faces.  Honestly!!!
