Cupcake Stands & Textures

This past weekend I threw a dozen cupcake stands and tonight I trimmed them and added some texture to each.  After this round is glazed, I'll need to determine which texture technique I like best on them but for now, I thought I'd try a bunch of different ways.  Some have carved stripes, others have a carved leaf like pattern, slip dots and other random patterns.

Very nice. Do you make yours in one or two pieces? I always do mine in one piece but some people have complained about cracking during firing so they make them in 2 pieces.

I've got one that has been glaze fired so far so not really an expert in any way. I make them in one piece and I've got about two dozen in various stages of completion. So far I've only had one crack but after that I started compressing the heck out of the center so we'll see how the rest of these survive.

Compression will be your best friend with these at one piece units. I just think they seem stronger thrown this way.
